Why Bik Wan

Small enough to notice.
Experienced enough to care.

The advantages of choosing Bik Wan are not found on a brochure. They reveal themselves day by day — in familiar faces, unhurried mornings and support that fits the person, not a category.

Our Advantages

Six reasons families choose Bik Wan

Continuity of Staff

Our team stays. Low turnover means residents build real familiarity with the people who help them each day — something larger facilities rarely sustain.

Genuinely Home-Like

Bik Wan is a converted townhouse, not a constructed facility. The proportions and quiet of a real home cannot be replicated in a purpose-built block.

Flexible Support Levels

From light weekly help to full residence living — our three arrangements allow residents to choose exactly the level of support they want, and to change it as life changes.

Mid-Levels Location

5 Conduit Road places residents within easy reach of the harbour, Central's markets and the hillside parks — the Hong Kong they know, still accessible.

Bilingual Environment

All staff communicate in both Cantonese and English. Residents and their families need never worry about language gaps or misunderstandings.

Family-Run Values

Bik Wan is owned and operated by the founding family. Decisions about standards and care are made by people with a personal stake in how life here feels — not by a corporate board.

Years of practical experience in elder lifestyle support

Our senior staff have worked in elder welfare and community services in Hong Kong for a combined total of over twenty years. This experience shows not in certificates on the wall but in the patience and good judgment they bring to daily situations — knowing when a resident wants company and when they prefer quiet, recognising the early signs of a difficult day, and handling sensitive conversations with families calmly and honestly.

We hold membership with the Hong Kong Association of Gerontology and stay current with SWD residential guidelines. New team members are trained by experienced staff before taking on independent responsibilities.

  • Over 7 years of operation as a community residence
  • Staff with backgrounds in gerontology and social work
  • Regular advisory panel reviews of resident wellbeing
  • Ongoing staff development and training programme
  • HK Association of Gerontology membership
  • Named host for each resident — not a rotating duty roster
  • Monthly written family update on resident activities
  • Director available by phone during office hours
  • Open visiting policy — families welcome at any time
  • All concerns addressed within one working day

Personal attention and open communication

At Bik Wan, each resident has a named host — the same person they see most mornings and who knows their preferences and small habits well. This continuity is deliberate. It creates the kind of ease that takes months to build and that cannot be substituted with a good intake form.

Families receive a monthly written summary of activities, outings and any notable observations. The residence director is available by phone during office hours for any questions, and all concerns raised are acknowledged and addressed within one working day.

Clear, inclusive pricing with no hidden additions

Our monthly arrangements are priced simply and honestly. The Daily Living Support plan starts at HK$1,150 per month; Excursions & Outings at HK$2,380; and Complete Residence Living at HK$3,840 — covering a private room, housekeeping, dining, all outings and every community activity.

There are no supplementary charges added after sign-up for services that were already described. What is included in a plan is set out in plain language before the arrangement begins, so families know exactly what to expect each month.

  • Three clear monthly plans starting at HK$1,150
  • No supplementary fees for included services
  • Written plan summary before any arrangement begins
  • Ability to upgrade or adjust plan as needs change
  • HKD pricing — no currency exposure for local families

What Sets Us Apart

The things Bik Wan does differently

A Still, Unhurried Atmosphere

There are no bells, intercoms or institutional announcements at Bik Wan. The pace of the day is set by the residents, not a duty sheet.

Curated Hong Kong Outings

Our outings programme is designed around places that long-term Hong Kong residents recognise and value — not generic activities assembled from a list.

True Privacy of Room

Every resident has a genuinely private room — not a curtained bay. Personal space is never entered without knocking and receiving a reply.

Daily In-House Cooking

Meals are cooked fresh each day by our in-house cook. Residents' dietary preferences and cultural food traditions are taken seriously and honoured.
